Second Empire
This 1871 home was built in the Second Empire Style. Like many historic Elgin homes, it was converted to multiple apartments (five!) in the 1970’s and was recently restored to a single family home. First time on Tour!
Foursquare
This charming Four Square was built in 1883 by its original owner, Carl Henrik Carlson, a carpenter who immigrated from Sweden - first time on tour!

Romanesque Mansion
An 1887 mansion that has been the home to many prominent Elgin families. Although much original detail remains, the home was seriously neglected for decades. The current homeowners are currently restoring it to its former grandeur. It is being featured as this year’s “Restoration in Progress.” All three floors are open for touring.
Queen Anne
This home is a Queen Anne that was built in 1888 for E. Artel Metcalf for a cost of $3,000 and still has its original carriage barn.
Queen Anne
This exuberant Queen Anne was built circa 1893. It is one of many Elgin houses to have recently been de-converted from multi-family use back to a single family home - first time on tour!
Queen Anne
Built in 1896, this home is a beautiful example of the classic free-style Queen Anne. Converted to apartments in the 1940’s, it has been lovingly returned to a single family home. First time on tour since 1988.
Vernacular
Under the stucco hides a 1902 home that represents the transition from 19th to 20th Century architectural styles. Charming rehab with beautiful garden - first time on tour!

This cozy 1910 Bungalow has all of it's original interior details & a surprising back yard - first time on tour!
